Max Sharp inherited a garden from his mother when she died. In fact, he inherited everything. Zoyechka was buried in the garden and a monument was put up showing both her and her toddler son
[link] There are also the seven children of Max's buried there as well... it is indeed a lonely place filled with sadness and death.
There are tall stony walls around the entire overgrown garden. The ground is cold and hard and the flowers are small but hardy, but they are there. Most flowers keep growing and thriving despite the tundra terrain where everyone lives.
Max goes to the garden often to lament over his mama and children. They were the only ones he loved and feels that no one else should even see the garden and graves. Eve followed him one day undetected and waited for him to leave. She saw him slip the key into the lilies. Once he was gone she took they key and entered the gates. Day after day she went in and took care of the flowers and the ground. The cemetery/garden sprang to life. Max noticed but said nothing.
He found her in there one day. He told her that he was unhappy she was in there, but since she was taking such good care of the plants that she could go about as she pleased. The garden became a favorite spot for the two of them to walk in and enjoy each other's company... until Eve said the wrong thing to Max and he locked the gates to the stone walled garden forever, leaving the dead behind.
I hate Frontline Assembly a lot right now. I listened to Vanished the entire time I was doing this. And I'm sure by tomorrow I will hate this picture.
